Episode 470 of the CMP, a Creativity Matters Podcast — Letting yourself begin, being a beginner, beginner mindset, the importance of repetition, and a bird story
This episode is about being a beginner and letting yourself be a beginner. You won’t start out where you want to be most likely, but with practice, repetition, and continued “doing,” you will improve and gain skill. As long as you enjoy whatever the practice is, then the journey will be one that has meaning and value in the unfolding.
Included, a bird story, brief reflection on a “5-minute” side-of-the-road series from a while back, thoughts on a year-long bird series from years ago, starting new things, and jumping rope.
Inktoportraits in October (or Inktober)
I will be doing Inktoportaits again this October for my daily drawing and for my “Inktober”-focused work. I draw in ink daily anyway, but I like taking this kind of challenge as a way to further my own work. I’m excited about doing 30 concerted days of portraits again. This will be year 3 for #inktoportraits. More information is in this Instagram post. To see a short reel of my Inktober series from 2019, 2020, and 2021, click here.
