Five Minutes (Creativity Matters Podcast 454)

Find five minutes in your day that can hold a small creative moment
Episode 454

Episode 454 of the CMP, a Creativity Matters Podcast — Five Minutes

Find five minutes in your day that can hold a small creative moment, and you may unleash a transformative five minutes that can help keep you inspired, balanced, and moving forward with your creative pursuits.

In this show, I talk about the #30inks30days project I did in September and how I reclaimed 5 minutes (or maybe 10) of morning and found that it worked really well.

Gratitude

November is a reflective month and one in which I often spend a lot of time thinking about and recording gratitude. I discovered back in 2017 that this could be a transformative process for me. I encourage you to go back and listen to the Spark shows, if you haven’t already. That whole process started with this show (Episode 268) or maybe it was the year before with this show (Episode 205). But in 2017, I recorded a gratitude-focused podcast every day for the CMP. They are available as individual shows or in batch compilations on the podcast page.

Randoms

  1. I finished book 9 in the Realm of the Elderlings series (by Robin Hobb). I am reading book 10 (on Kindle), but this is the start to a new sub-series of 4 books. I miss Fitz and the storytelling and narrative structure associated with the Fitz books so much.

  2. I finished listening to The House in the Cerulean Sea (Kindle link) and really enjoyed it. I immediately downloaded the next one. At least I thought it was the “next” one based on the similar cover design. So far, I’m incredibly confused, have slowly come to understand this must not be at all related, and am not sure I’ll continue listening!

  3. I watched, enjoyed, and binged Squid Games. I’ve also been astounded by how much fan art I’ve seen at Instagram – so many people doing portraits and paintings of the characters!

  4. I finished #Inktoportraits.

  5. I am doing NaNoWriMo as a personal project (no clear book structure). But only a few days in, I know that my schedule isn’t always as easy as it seems.

  6. We are now in Week 44 of 2021… so Week 44 in my illustrated journal for #illustrateyourweek. I am so happy to be back in a space where this is my “main” creative project (other than the writing each day). I probably needed a few days to decompress from Inktober/Inktoportraits (and to get this podcast done), but I am hoping to really crawl back into my journal pages now.

  7. I am on day 3 of the 100 day dress challenge. I have both a magical view of this and a conflicted and very confused view. 97 days to go. This may be the most out-there thing I’ve done in a long time, but as I’m sitting here right now and wearing the dress…. it isn’t even something I think about.

I hope your November is off to a good start!
