Week 9 Prompts for 2023 Illustrate Your Week
Prompts for Week 9 of 2023 for #illustrateyourweek in your #illustratedjournal
Some Background on Illustrate Your Week
I post the new set of prompts for Illustrate Your Week every Sunday. I post at Instagram, and I will also be adding them here with additional context each Sunday.
If you are new to Illustrate Your Week, feel free to jump in at any time. People often think they need to "catch up," but the simple fact is, this is an illustrated journal (or sketchnote diary or illustrated diary or some other combination of these terms), and it should map to the unfolding of your days. In other words, start where you are with the current week.
So, here we are at Week 9....
Another set of days, another week, and another month ending. Already, we are finishing up the second month of the year. I think a small pie chart might be in order, a visual marker of the passage of time. If you've been keeping your illustrated journal since the start of this year, you've now collected 8 weeks worth of art and personal notes. (Stop and reflect on that for just a moment. It's an awesome thing to know you can flip back through these beautiful visual records of the passing days.)
I hope you are finding your flow, enjoying the process, finding ways to fit your journal in with other art projects you do. (This doesn't have to be your "only" project. It's great if it is, but it doesn't demand, require, or expect that. At its core, the illustrated journal is magical in that it can fit into any shape or space or time or mind space you need.) I hope, too, that you continue to find that the balance of what you record includes daily notes and observations. It is the journal layer that makes this more than just a sketchbook, and I find the interplay between it "sort of" being a sketchbook and also being a "diary" of sorts (although I would use the term journal), makes it an endlessly satisfying project.
Your illustrated journal is a freeform space to hold your personal documentation, memories, hopes, wishes, and the tiny details that make up everyday life. - Amy Cowen
